1930s Style Bertha Cape Collar Dress with Fluttery Art Deco Skirt Custom Made in Your Size From a Vintage Pattern 1931

Art deco divine!

This dress will be custom made for you in your size using a vintage pattern that is dated 1931. It features a drop waist bodice with full circular cape collar (also called a birtha collar) that is long enough to hang over the shoulders creating a sleeve effect. The skirt is a typical early 1930s design with full circular flared sides with an upper peplum ruffle. Closes on the sides, comes with a tie belt. The original pattern calls for a snap closure along the side seam but I can use a zipper instead if you prefer.

This dress is unlined and does not come with a slip. The pattern suggests this to be made from sheer fabrics so you will need your own slip to wear under it. I am happy to line it for you if you prefer but it will be an additional cost.

Please note that since this pattern is from the early 1930s, it will not fit like a modern garment. It is left a bit loose at the front waist where it is supposed to have a bloused effect when worn the belt. The pattern is made to fit a good 3" larger at the waist than your actual waist measurement, yet fitted at the bust and hips. This is typical of most pre 1933 styles.

This dress will be custom made for you to your measurements. Since it is made to order I can make it out of any fabric and color you want. The pattern suggests sheer fabrics such as cotton lawn, voile, chiffon, challis, charmeuse, lace or georgette. However I can make this in any fabric you want, it is up to you!
