This pattern was an amazing find and such a treasure. It is for a bathing suit, or 'swim dress' with a matching pair of bloomers. It will be custom made for you using a pattern that dates sometime between 1919 to 1922. This is a time when it was literally illegal for ladies in the USA to show more than 6" of leg above the knee in public - hence, the bloomers. It features a scoop neck and can be made with or without the collar. Your choice of sleeveless, short sleeves or even long (!) sleeves with cuffs. The dress is a typical 1920's style being totally baggy in the torso and worn with a tie belt. I can make this as the pattern shows with contrast piping along the neckline, sleeve cuffs or hem if you wish. Your choice of plain or with ruffles. The bloomers are made with elastic at the waist and leg cuffs. This dress is unlined. There are no closures as it is meant to be slipped on over your head.
Please note that since this pattern is from the 1920s it will not fit like a modern garment. The pattern is made to fit a good 4" + larger at the waist than your actual waist measurement, yet fitted at the bust and hips. This is typical of most 1920s styles. This swimsuit will be custom made for you to your measurements. Since it is made to order I can make it out of any fabric and color you want. Though wool was commonly used back then, I think this would be best made in a cool summery cottons.
Prices incude a budget of $12 per yard fabric max. If you want a more expensive fabric there will be an additional cost. Unsure about fabric and the total costs? Message me and we can discuss.
I will message you after the order is made and give you a list of measurements I will need to make your dream dress.
This dress is made to order so please allow 14+ weeks for delivery.
